Sleepy Kiwi Studio

About me

Hi, I’m Kiwi Kate.

Sleepy Kiwi Studio started at my kitchen table in Oklahoma — and honestly, that’s still where most of the magic happens. I paint between nap times, everyday life, and everything that comes with raising a toddler with another little one on the way.

I fell in love with texture — the kind you don’t just see, but want to reach out and touch. I work with texture paste and acrylic paint, building each piece up in layers. Flowers become almost tangible, with raised petals and edges you can feel, shadows that change as you move around the room, and every piece looks a little different depending on where you’re standing.

Right now, you’ll mostly find me painting on black canvas in bright, neon color. Many of my pieces have another surprise, too: they glow under blacklight. Flip the switch to see the whole piece change.

My radioactive ghost was the first piece in my Halloween series — as well as the first piece I ever sold. I’m still figuring things out as I go, but one thing is pretty certain: 3-D texture, bright color, and a little randomness are here to stay.

Want a piece of your own? Check out the Prints section to see what’s available, or let’s make something just for you. I’m currently taking commissions, so if you’ve got an idea — even a weird one — I want to hear it. Click Commissions below and tell me what you’re dreaming up.

When I’m not painting, you can usually find me with my family, at book club, or leading worship at my church.

Thanks for being here and checking things out. I can’t wait to see where this creative adventure takes me next — and I’m really glad you found me.
